-- PROGRAM OVERVIEW --

During the winter break of 2017/2018, there was a fashion photography / videography field experience offered through The School of Visual Communication and the Office of Global Opportunities at Ohio University.

Ten students spent ten days in Grand Cayman making video and photographs of fashion for clients. This workshop guided participant through the various aspects of the creative process. We did a deep dive into ideation, location scouting, client/model relations, equipment selection and preparation, light techniques, various approaches to shooting on location, post production and digital asset management.

-- PREPARATION --

Our group is held weekly meetings to work on client relations, project ideation, model acquisition, location scouting, etc.
Our meetings were held every Thursday evening from 6pm - 7:20pm in fall semsester of 2017 in
RTV 462 : Ohio University : Athens Campus

-- REGISTRATION WITH THE CUSTOMS OFFICE --

it might be a good idea to register all of your computer and camera equipment with the US Customs office before you leave for Cayman Island.
If you don't register your gear, the U.S. Customs office could tell you that you bought all of those things while you were aboard and will require you to pay import tax on everything.

-- ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS --

Heather Holt and I will be working together to make this program happen.

Heather will be working with us during the entire time we are in Grand Cayman. She is a graduate of The Ohio University School of Visual Communication from the early 2000's. She spends 1/2 her year in Cayman and 1/2 her year in Bali. Heather supports herself as a working photographer and is really well connected on the island.

-- COURSE INFORMATION --

All participants will sign up for two classes.
The first one will happen in the fall semester. The second one will happen over winter break.

Fall 2017
VICO 4900 Special Topics in Visual Communication Field Work Preparation
(1 credit hour)
This class will prepare you in every way for the field experience.
The meeting time of this class will meet once a week during the fall semester.
Thursday evening from 6pm-7:20pm.
in RTV 462 - Athens campus

Please sign up for the above class, even if you are not completely sure you will go on this trip. If you decide not to go, you can then drop this course.

Winter Break / Spring 2018 credit
VICO 3922 Synthesis Commercial Production for Visual Communication
(3 credit hours)
This course can count as a fashion photography course for Commercial Photography majors or as an audio video course for Multimedia majors.
