David Hostetler calls me to work with him in the creation of his art work from time to time. Recently he and Kate (a friend and model) and I got together to create some prints.

Last spring I was asked by the director of The School of Visual Communication to develop and teach a new motion graphics class.
I spent a great deal of time learning as much as I could about Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D and animation principles. I called on alumni such as Eric Mayville, Caroline Caine, Mugur Marculescu and Chris McKenize for guidance on possible project ideas. They helped me to better understand current best practices in this industry. These alumni provided ideas for class assignments that would be most effective in a portfolio as people enter the job market.

Documentary Story Telling in Europe -- Fredrick Lewis, Brandon Flayler and I spent 6 weeks of the summer working with 16 Ohio Universtiy students in Leipzig, Germany. While we were in Germany we worked in groups on short documentary films.

The UNC Lineberger Cancer Center recently hosted it's 7th annual fund raising dinner at The Chapel Hill Country Club. Over 600 people attended the sold out "White Party" event. I was invited to attend and make studio portraits of some of the donors of this organization.

Gary Kirksey, Larry Hamel-Lambert and I got together and spent two days in the photo studio. We were asked to photograph over 100 Amish quilts for a collection that The Dairy Barn Cultural Arts Center is documenting for a book they are printing through The Ohio University Press. We set up a small studio at The Dairy Barn and had a great time working with the fabric of the Amish culture.

At the end of each year I like to look back and see what I have done, and this web site helps me to do that. However, I realize that my largest accomplishments go unnoticed on the pages of this site. . . .because I try to keep this space purely professional. As I review this past year, I am most proud of the time I have been able to spend with my son Emmett. I spent some time gathering as many pictures and movies as I could. I put together this short video that highlights some of our time together. Please take a minute and look at some of the good times we have shared together in 2009.
